Katie Wood joins Electric Theatre Collective
Executive Producer Wood joins ETC after 12 years agency side at Havas.
When it comes to Electric Theatre Collective’s hiring strategy, talent matters more than a linear career path.
So, after twelve-plus years agency-side at Havas, welcoming Katie Wood as Executive Producer was a total no-brainer. Bringing with her an unwavering knowledge of directors and production companies, Wood will help forge new collaborations for the award-winning studio, as well as overseeing large-scale productions.
As for her prior career history, what started out as a three-month stint on reception at Leagas Delaney turned into a four year crash course in account management and production under the dream guidance of Michelle Hickey and Chloe London. Fast forward to 2014, and Wood arrived at Havas, where she spent over a decade producing campaigns for a myriad of global brands.
Among her favourites? Vanish’s autism campaign with Tom Hooper, which was not only widely awarded but also had a tangible impact on the autistic community. Asahi’s Seek What is Unique, a bucket-list production shot in Tokyo and directed by Alaska. And of course, JD’s 2022 Christmas campaign. Directed by Rollo Jackson, the film was pure scheduling Tetris: thirty-six talent, seven days, one Wandsworth arcade and absolutely zero concept of day or night.
Of her new role, Wood comments: “I’ve only been here a week, but the passion at ETC is unrivalled. I can’t wait to be part of the inner workings, nerdy details and craft that have become synonymous with the studio. I plan to lean on my previous experience from an overall production perspective to help guide projects from start to finish.”
ETC CEO, Jon Purton adds: “After making the decision to bring in another EP to the team, we began reflecting on where the industry, and more specifically ETC, is. We’ve always sought to hire deep domain expertise within the visual effects and animation sphere and this has served us so well. However, things are changing everywhere that you look and upon reflection, so is our studio."
“We’re more than just a vendor or a service and so with that notion comes the opportunity to add fresh perspectives, new ideas and people that can help us evolve with the creative world at large, creating a multifaceted set of skills within our team. Therein came our eureka moment. Katie has worked alongside us for years and as a client, she was always so clued up and curious about what we do. She also always paid on time (lovely). She’s a perfect fit; a blend of creative taste, bonafide production experience, an appreciation for the process at every single level, and finally, that thing that makes the days go quicker, brutal, quick wit and humour. I’m buzzing that this is happening, my only regret is that we didn’t start sooner!”
