What’s the best music video you’ve seen recently and why?

Povoa ft Madge - Beat Bunny, directed by Tanner K Williams. 

I like the use of dance choreography mixed with an unhinged narrative plus it's just stupidly funny. For something shot in one room with the same cast it really holds your attention. 

The casting and performance is absolute perfection. It's just fucking nuts.

What’s the first music video you remember being impressed by?

The video for Justice - Stress from Romain Gavras. Perfectly executed, the tension just builds and builds. 

As an angry young man it made me want to go and break shit in a cool jacket. Or go make music videos that are like scenes from films.

And what’s your all-time favourite music video?

I don't think anyone has just one, especially if you are into jamming music and film together. But these are my top two if you ask me this week. Next week will be different.

The Dead Weather - Treat Me Like Your Mother, directed by Jonathan Glazer, and Kendrick Lamar - Humble, directed by Dave Meyers and the Little Homies.

What other directors/artists do you look to for inspiration?

In film I just like masters of story and character like Martin Scorsese or Paul Thomas Anderson. People that make films you get lost in and feel like you're in that world for two hours.

For art, I just get inspired by going to galleries and also my friends that create.

What are you listening to at the moment?

Damn, I’m honestly all over the place when it comes to music.

Here’s a list I have sorted depending on mood and activity: Amyl and the Sniffers (Car), Paul Cauthen (Drinking), Joey Valance and Brae (smoking), Speed (Gym), Lo! (Angry), Fleetwood Mac (motorbike).

What’s your favourite bit of tech, whether for professional or personal use?

Work wise, I really love this small multi axis robotic camera arm called Slim from D2 motion. You can fit it in small locations, rig it to cars. I’ve got some insane shots with it.

Personally I recently bought a Cardo coms system for my motorbike. You can talk to your passenger, listen to music and connect on group rides with 15 people. Total game changer. Way better than yelling at each other through helmets.

What artist(s) would you most like to work with and why?

No one in particular to be honest. Of course if Bad Bunny, Doja Cat or Kendrick Lamar wanted to throw me a brief I would jump at it. If it's a good track that has some meaning behind it. I think it will make a good video. But most of my best videos I did for friends bands and we all got together and made them happen. That's the best way to make things in my opinion. You get to do whatever the fuck you and the artist want.
