60 years on, the Renault 4 is back in electric.

A best-seller from the 60s to the 80s, it was emblematic of its era. At one and the same time a rally car, a vehicle for the Post Office, firefighters and Air France, it also evolved with society: between May 68, Woodstock, women emancipation, sexual freedom and new artistic inspirations... the 4L saw the birth of so many freedoms.

Sold in over 8 million units and exported to over 100 countries worldwide, it has crossed borders to become a symbol.

Renault 4 E-Tech 100% electric, officially presented in Paris on Monday October 14 at the 90th Mondial de l'Auto, is in step with the times: it's 100% electric, over 88% recyclable and connected with integrated Google & over 50 applications. Always open to the world with its “Plein Sud” canvas sunroof, it knows how to adapt to each individual thanks to its modularity.

Renault and its agency Publicis Conseil produce a film to unveil Renault 4 to the world.

Through the two beautiful emblematic round eyes of different “4Ls”, we see various historical periods passing before discovering today the new look of Renault 4, carried in music by the song Je reviens te chercher by Gilbert Bécaud, with its powerfully evocative lyrics, which was chosen to illustrate the return of the emblematic R4.

To bridge the gap between glorious past and promising future, the Start-Rec agency proposed a modernised, sparkling interpretation, imagining a revisited version in the form of a virtual duet between the original voice of “Monsieur 100 000 volts” and the vibrant voice of singer Candice Parise.

“This film captures the legacy of the Renault 4. Its emblematic design elements such as its front grille and round headlights, of course, but above all the fact that it has played an active role in the development of new freedoms since the 1960s. Let's bet that Renault 4 E-tech 100% electric will also be able to accompany the development of freedoms”. said Arnaud Belloni, Renault Global Brand Marketing Director.

Renault 4 E-Tech 100% electric, assembled in Maubeuge (Hauts-de-France), is above all a vehicle with a charismatic design. The emblem of the 60s can be seen in the many reinterpreted and modernised details: radiator grille, hood, shields, rear quarter panel window, door protections, three-part rear headlights... and even the canvas sunroof. Cha-ris-ma-tic!

Thanks to the AmpR Small platform, Renault 4 E-Tech 100% electric boasts top-level driving sensations, with driving behaviour designed for the comfort of all passengers. Like its predecessors, Renault 4 will take you anywhere, whether in the city, the countryside or the mountains. It owes this freedom to its battery, available in 40 and 52 kWh versions, as well as to its engine and its two power modes, 90 and 110 kW. That's enough to cover up to 400 km before plugging in. Recharging is efficient, with an 80 or 100 kW DC socket, and simple, with the various solutions offered by Mobilise.

And just like the 4L in their day, Renault 4 is positioned as the compact vehicle of versatility. With a length of 4.14 m and a trunk volume of up to 1,405 L, thanks in particular to its folding front passenger backrest, it offers comfort for all passengers and the possibility of 100,000 adventures.
