RSA Films welcomes award-winning director Matt Baron to the roster for commercial representation in the US.

His work reflects refined emotional storytelling and beautifully crafted visuals, particularly in the fashion and sports genres. His campaigns have been honoured with Cannes Lions, a Grand CLIO and CLIO awards, and MTV VMA nominations. Baron has most recently helmed spots for Range Rover, adidas, DeBeers and Nuna, and has also partnered with brands such as Gatorade, Apple, The Grammy Awards x Kendrick Lamar, Vogue, Louis Vuitton, Madonna and many more.

“Matt brings an indelible point of view to every frame of his work,” said Luke Ricci, President, RSA Films US. “I’ve always been moved by his beautifully crafted, striking visuals paired with sophisticated humanity and nuanced performances. His ability to tell arresting stories in a multitude of formats is exactly the quality that resonates with where the RSA Films' brand sits at the moment. I’m overjoyed to welcome Matt to our roster. He’s also one hell of a table tennis player.”

“There’s a prestige and a chicness to RSA,” Baron said. “It’s a legacy company built by Ridley and Tony Scott. It has the foundation and heritage to produce top-notch work while finding continued success looking to the future developing and molding the next generation of voices in our business. Luke Ricci brings a big picture perspective about shaping a director’s career from a bird’s eye view. I’m eager to strategise with him to bring great stories to life and refine my point of view.”

Baron got his start working for acclaimed fashion photographers such as Patrick Demarchelier, Mario Sorrenti, Mikael Jansson and Craig McDean, which included shooting video content for them on set. He quickly became adept as a director of photography and an editor before being approached to direct films for clients. He initially landed on the roster of Alldayeveryday, then Partizan in 2019 bringing with him a shorthand for advertising he learned from his father, Founder of agency Baron & Baron.

“Photography was my first love, and it is still a huge passion personally and professionally,” Baron said, noting he just photographed the covers of NME magazine and Outside magazine.

“I find my cinematic style crosses over both photography and filmmaking,” he explained. “I am always first and foremost looking at light and location. Sometimes I will just sit in a location, frame what I like and wait for something to fall into it. I am drawn to shadows, silhouettes and minimalism.”

Baron is fuelled creatively by life around him, everything from his children and his old French bulldog Buzz, to beautiful landscapes, the light at dusk and all kinds of music. He appreciates the aesthetic of filmmakers like David Fincher and Stanley Kubrick, photographers Saul Leiter and Richard Avedon, and painters René Magritte and Georgia O’Keefe. And he loves sports, especially football, directing a 2026 World Cup spot for the Los Angeles Board of Tourism, and tennis, which he plays several times a week.

L.A. based today, Baron enjoyed summers growing up between France (Corsica) where his dad is from, and New York. He speaks three languages – English, French and Italian. Along with a distinctive visual style, Baron brings an expansive cultural perspective to all of his work and a chameleon-like ability to talk with people from all walks of life and work comfortably in any genre of filmmaking.

More recently, he’s been spending summers in Sicily with his three small children and his wife, who was born there. Intrigued by motocross kids in Sicily, he found a Sicilian motocross kid on Instagram, reached out with a DM and made a short film about him, Caruso. It was something that came together quickly, was shot on an FX6 and made with his brother in law for $500.

“I really love going into new environments, building trust and being accepted in tight knit communities,” Baron said. “I am fascinated by how other people live their lives.”
