Stept and Salomon release a four-day running film
Directed by Warner Shaw, the new Salomon TV short documentary, Meet Me in Marrakesh, follows runners Lucy Bartholomew and Lydia Keating.
Award-winning creative and entertainment studio Stept announces the release of Meet Me in Marrakesh, a new short documentary made in partnership with Salomon, the modern mountain sports and lifestyle brand, for Salomon TV.
The film follows runners Lucy Bartholomew and Lydia Keating as they leave behind two very different day-to-day lives and travel together to Morocco for a four-day gravel running adventure through the Atlas Mountains.
Directed by Warner Shaw, the film is about the power of taking a pause. In a new country, surrounded by unfamiliar landscapes and terrain, Bartholomew and Keating find space to reset, reflect and exhale, rediscovering along the way what made them fall in love with running in the first place. Stept led creative, production and post on the film, with creative led by Davey Spens, Head of Creative and Entertainment at Stept. Post-production, sound and finishing were completed by Lockt.

Gravel running sits between road and trail, and it asks something different of a runner than either one does. The production took the same approach, building the film around the terrain and the two athletes rather than around a plan.
“The production of Meet Me in Marrakesh had to find its own rhythm,” said Spens. “We were piecing together a four-day adventure around the schedules of two very different athletes, one coming off the Paris Marathon and the other in the middle of training, while arriving in a new country, new landscapes and unfamiliar terrain.”
“In many ways, the process mirrored gravel running itself. Gravel is multi-terrain: spontaneous, constantly changing, and about finding your pace as you go. We approached the filmmaking in much the same way,” Spens continued. “Rather than arriving with everything predetermined, the challenge was to bring together all these different ingredients and discover the film through the experience, adapting to the landscape, the runners and each other, finding a rhythm as a team and as individuals. The production became an adventure in its own right, navigating uncertainty and allowing the story, the filmmaking and the journey to evolve together.”
Shaw, a director on Stept’s commercial roster whose work spans Apple, Netflix, Nike and Oakley, brings a cinematic sensibility to a film shot almost entirely on the move. The film is the latest chapter in a partnership that began in 2022, the throughline has been consistent: films built around real people in real conditions, made with the craft of narrative filmmaking and the patience of documentary. Meet Me in Marrakesh continues that approach in a discipline Salomon has been helping to define.
