WPP’s unified global production company, WPP Production announces the appointment of Jim Allen as Executive Creative Director, UK Post Production.

Allen will be responsible for defining and driving creative ambition across WPP Production’s UK operation, setting the benchmark for visual quality, design, CGI, VFX and AI-enabled origination. Working closely with WPP Production’s UK studio network and agency partners, Allen will oversee complex brand content systems, commercials, and high-end storytelling platforms for clients such as Ford, Henkel, Boots, and Unilever.

With nearly three decades of industry experience, Allen brings a rare combination of world-class VFX craft, business leadership and technical innovation. Throughout his career, he has built and scaled top-tier post-production facilities, directed campaigns for global brands and pioneered the integration of hybrid AI-to-VFX finishing pipelines.

Timothy Last, Head of Post Production, WPP Production said: “Jim is an exceptional creative talent who combines deep craft expertise with a forward-looking vision for modern post-production. His background as a business founder, VFX artist and creative director gives him an intimate understanding of how to elevate visual storytelling. As we continue to scale our connected production ecosystem, Jim’s mastery in combining human craft with next-generation AI workflows makes him the ideal leader to drive creative excellence across our UK operations.”

Prior to joining WPP Production, Allen co-founded two major London post-production companies. In 1999, he co-founded Big Buoy, serving as co-Managing Director and Creative Lead for nearly 20 years, scaling it from a start-up into renowned post-production company.

Most recently, as Creative Director and Partner at No.8, he led multidisciplinary teams across VFX, CGI and motion design, earning a consistent place in Televisual’s top ten VFX companies every year of his tenure. He also contributed to the strategic acquisition of Jam VFX, extending the business into the high-end film and television market.

Throughout his career, Allen has served as a trusted creative partner to directors including Ringan Ledwidge, Los Pérez, Dave Meyers, Oscar Hudson and Henry Schofield. His work spans global campaigns for Nike, Adidas, Sony, Range Rover, Google and Samsung, alongside acclaimed music videos for Dua Lipa, Ed Sheeran and Stormzy. His portfolio has earned top accolades, including multiple Creative Circle awards, UKMVA awards, and London International Awards.

At the technological forefront, Allen specialises in integrating node-based generative AI workflows, including Flora, Runway, Luma and Weavy, as well as next-generation video models, into high-end post-production pipelines.

Allen said: “There is a huge opportunity at WPP Production to fundamentally reshape how post-production and high-end craft are integrated into agency ecosystems. WPP has an inspiring vision for modern marketing production, and I am excited to help turn that momentum into world-class, beautifully executed work. By fostering a collaborative culture and combining cutting-edge technology with uncompromising human craft, we can push visual standards further than ever before.”

Allen will be based in London and report into Tim Last, UK Head of Post Production.
