This heartfelt spec spot for UPS from New Zealand-born director Cody Packer follows the story of a young man's travels across the world and the grandmother waiting at home for him.

Packer had been directing work out of FCB Chicago but, after moving to LA, began talking with cinematographer friend David Keninger. Both had the urge to create spec work that better represented their passion and desire to tell emotive, human stories driven by visual storytelling, and Sending Memories is the result.

"The concept actually originates from a true story that happened to David,"explains Packer, "whereby his grandmother left him a box of their memories they shared growing up right before she passed away. When I heard it, I could see it so vividly and knew we had to translate this to the screen for a brand. We got writing and planning and all of sudden before we knew it, we were both running around in Guatemala with the actor, Nicola Tombacco, shooting as much as we could for five days.

"It was an exhilarating sense of freedom I hadn't felt in the creative process for a long time. We shot the narrative stuff with grandmother back in Los Angeles a few weeks later and then David and I cut the spot together in his bedroom. We pulled on a number of extremely talented collaborators to polish the piece off, like Emmy Award Winning sound designer Taylor Lewin, and my incredibly talented friend, Austin Isaac Peters, to bring the score to life."
