Agency AMV BBDO has appointed Mark Elwood as Chief Creative Officer.

Elwood will lead AMV’s Creative & Design Department and oversee the creative output of the entire agency, including its social and creator unit, native@AMV.

Elwood, who worked as AMV’s Head of Design from 2001-2003, rejoins the agency from Leo UK where he held the role of Chief Creative Officer.

During his career, he has creatively led some of the UK and world’s biggest brands; most recently McDonald’s, Kellogg’s, Skoda UK, Vodafone, Morrisons and Confused.com. He has helped Leo win multiple pitches since he joined in 2020, seeing the agency crowned Campaign Agency of the Year in 2022 and 2024.

He has won multiple creative awards including four Cannes Lions for McDonald’s (including a Gold for Camera Rolls) and multiple Golds at the British Arrows Awards including the much-coveted John Webster Award. Elwood started his career as a Typographer at agencies including JWT and Euro RSCG. Prior to Leo, he was ECD of MullenLowe London and 101, and a Creative Director at Fallon.

Elwood will start at the very latest in January 2027 and joins AMV’s Leadership Team including CEO Xav Rees, Chief Strategy Officer Jo Arden, Chief Client Officer Katy Wright, Ben Jaffe Deputy Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Growth Officer Jemima Monies.

Elwood will report into Xav Rees and Chris Beresford-Hill (CBH), Global CCO of BBDO.  AMV’s ECDs and Creative President Owen Lee will report into Mark.

Elwood says: “I've loved the last six years at Leo. Together we've won fantastic clients including Vodafone, Morrisons and B&Q, created effective work that I'm incredibly proud of, and enjoyed more success than I could have imagined – from Cannes Lions Golds and D&AD Pencils to our first Webby, Campaign Agency of the Year twice, and plenty more besides. Most importantly, I've had the privilege of working with some brilliant people who have become great friends.

The opportunity to return to AMV BBDO was irresistible. It’s an agency which has always been about incredible talent and outstanding creativity. As part of the BBDO network led globally by Nancy and CBH the ambition is greater than ever. I can’t wait to get started with Xav and the world-class team he’s building in the UK.”

Xavier Rees says: “This role deserves the very best, so I'm thrilled Mark is joining our crew. He has incredible track record of creating work that drives both fame and growth for the world’s biggest brands, along with an enviable list of Lions, pitch wins and Agency of the Year titles. I come away from every conversation I have with Mark buzzing with ideas and excitement about what we can achieve together, and I can't wait to welcome him back to AMV BBDO.”
