In collaboration with longtime creative partner Aidan Zamiri through Object & Animal, British pop icon Charli xcx unveils this gritty music video for her new track, Rock Music.
A teaser for the artist’s upcoming album, the promo opens with a stark, dramatic shot of Charli throwing a TV out of a window, setting the scene for the raw and slightly tongue-in-cheek references to rock music visual culture that follow.
Realised through grainy monochrome footage and a bold edit that matches the track’s genre-blending sound, the film sees Charli stripping in the streets of NYC and smoking amid mountains of cigarettes in a hotel room alongside her husband, George Daniel, who makes one of several cameos in the video.
