In many parts of the world, investigative journalism means risking everything. And yet these voices continue to publish.

Titled Losing Voices, this powerful and cinematic short film, directed by Elias Ben Dahhou through Filmakademie Baden-Wurttemberg and created in collaboration with Soup Film and Toni Petersen Film, vividly depicts the human cost of journalism in many parts of the world.

Rather than showing the torture that reporters endure after arrest, the intimate, low-lit vignettes spotlight the anxiety-inducing space between publishing and the facing the consequences, depicting journalists not only as reporters but as people, parents, partners and friends.

When journalists are imprisoned, their voices fall silent. Too often, they are forgotten. Losing Voices stands against that silence and reminds us that when these disappear, we lose more than stories.
