For anyone feeling a little angsty about the possibility of AI taking over their job, this fun short will hopefully offer reassurance about the need for human creatives in pretty much every aspect of the filmmaking process.
Created in collaboration with Danny Sangra, Amsterdam-based creative production company FutureFrank’s latest short film, Nobody Needed, emphasises with humour and wit that cheaper doesn't always mean better when it comes to film production, and that AI alone is not enough to create great work.
The project offers a comedic take on the intersection of creativity and artificial intelligence, set within the mundane yet absurd world of a Film Production Insurance company.
The author’s inspiration came from a real-life story: “I was called up and asked to make a short. The person said ‘we don’t need actors because we can do the voices in AI, we don’t need a camera and there’s great screen writing AI tools too’. I responded with ‘have you ever made a film before?’, says Sangra.
