Greenpoint Pictures welcomes filmmaker Kalum Ko to its roster of directorial talent.

With a global portfolio spanning 35 countries, Ko is a 2025 Young Guns winner and a prolific director whose films and stills have been featured on platforms like NOWNESS, BOOOOOOOM, and National Geographic.

Ko’s work is intimate, emotionally honest, and rooted in reality. Whether in commercial or editorial spaces, his films feel deeply alive and evocative, replete with depth and sincerity. Drawn to images and stories that elicit goosebumps, he directs with a curiosity and openness to unfiltered, naturalistic work. Moving across genres and mediums, Ko favours candor and genuine human behaviour and responses.

Recently awarded Juror’s Pick in LensCulture’s Emerging Talent Awards and a Canada Council for the Arts grant for his photography series Close to Home, Ko is widely acclaimed for his filmmaking talent. He spent two weeks filming in the Tokyo subway system to make his short Alone with Everyone, which went on to receive a YDA nomination. Other nomadic projects include Same Track, a stunning photographic series shot in Siberia, and the short WIP, which was made with Ko walking 600 kilometres through New York City.

This affinity for immersing himself in a wide range of communities and environments is evident in his work with Destination BC and Yukon Wild, where Ko captured these scenic terrains with an adventurous spirit and cinematic polish. Other brand collaborations of his include work with Mercedes-Benz and Conde Nast, and stills for Tinder’s romantic comedy homage campaign, It Starts With a Swipe.

“The quality of their work is what first attracted me, but I also heard about Greenpoint through friends,” remarks Ko on signing. “They all spoke about how Greenpoint had the energy and drive of a new company, while still having such experienced producers and EPs. When I finally met the team, I felt that same balance. They have strong creative sensibilities, and also a real desire to support directors and help shape the work.”

Greenpoint Creative Director, Niles Roth, adds, “To me what stands out is Kalum’s fresh perspective on documentary-style work. It’s a space that’s become increasingly saturated, but he approaches it in a way that feels genuinely original, something we haven’t really seen before. Every frame is captivating and beautifully crafted. He’s a natural fit for the GP family.”
