Swedish director Gustav Egerstedt has signed with Outsider for representation in the UK, marking his first home in the British market.

Egerstedt brings an awkward, dry flair for comedy to the Outsider roster to bolster their growing roster.

Having begun his career as a creative at agencies like Saatchi & Saatchi, King and Farfar, picking up his fair share of international awards along the way, including Cannes Lions, pencils at D&AD and One Show and most important Golden eggs (for all the Swedes out there). As the film nerd he is, it was only a matter of time before Egerstedt took matters into his own hands. Combining his storytelling prowess and love for craft, Egerstedt has quickly grown into one of the busiest directors in Sweden under renowned production company Giants & Toys.

His approach to filmmaking blends the obscure with the bizarre, on the point casting garnering brilliant performances with his own sprinkle of Swedish pizazz. Better still, Egerstedt is a huge horror fan and was heavily involved for many years in running an infamous local horror film festival, for which he also made numerous award winning campaigns.

With a roster championing comedy, Outsider are always on the lookout for that next talent with funny bones and Egerstedt's work immediately stood out to them as Otis Denison (EP) and Bella Murray (Managing Partner) reflect, “You look at Gustav’s work and you can see why he feels so right for this market. Awkward, veering on the bizarre and really funny. We see so many briefs with his name on so it felt like a no brainer to bring him aboard. We’ve already pitched with him a number of times before even sticking his name on the website so if that isn’t a sign then we don’t know what is. He brings a cool head to the table and just makes you feel that everything is going to be okay whilst delivering great work time and time again. Time to put the pedal to the metal and start showing him off to the world.”

Egerstedt more than matched Outsider’s enthusiasm to mark another exciting chapter in his directing career, “Outsider has a long history of making bold and brilliantly funny work, so I couldn’t be happier to be joining this heavy hitting roster. Really looking forward to dive into the UK market and see what we can get away with together.”
