A new campaign for IKEA, celebrating two-and-a-half decades of the brand's presence in Greece, highlights that a visit to IKEA goes hand-in-hand with some of life's most important moment.
Created by The Newtons Laboratory Athens, and directed by Christos Kanakis through Picky Productions, we witness a man proposing in 2001, IKEA's inaugural year in Greece, with the line, "Will you go to IKEA with me for the rest of our lives?". Romantic? Possibly not. Accurate? You know it.
A too-old-to-be-living-at-home son is encouraged by his aging parents to move out with, "don't you think it's time you went to IKEA?". We also have a celebrating student who's off to university, and a woman announcing to her partner that they're having a baby. The spot shows that all of these life-changing events would be followed by a trip to IKEA
What follows a life-changing event? A sudden rush, a hint of uncertainty, and a trip to IKEA. "'We’re going to IKEA' carries the weight of millions of life transitions, highlighting that after 25 years in the market, a brand’s name can fit in every story," said Giannis Sorotos, Creative Director at The Newtons Laboratory.
