Mitra is a comedy director with an international background and a distinctive approach to storytelling. His work combines humour, meticulous art direction, a sharp eye for casting, and a retro sensibility capable of connecting with a wide range of audiences. His films are places where narrative and brand coexist naturally, and where every visual decision serves a clear creative idea.
His arrival also marks another step in Somos5's commitment to building an international roster of directors with distinctive voices and unique perspectives on the world.
When Somos5 were briefed for Bayer's Euphytose brand campaign, developed for the French market in collaboration with Omnicom, Somos5 knew Mitra was the right choice. His instinctive feel for comedy and a strong, confident, creative vision made him an obvious fit for the project. Somos5 presented him exclusively and won the job.
“Getting this script got me excited straight away. The idea was already funny on paper, and getting to shoot it in one of my favourite cities, Madrid, made it even better.
From our very first conversation, the atmosphere felt right. Somos5 put together a crew that really helped bring the vision to life. And as a director, that’s all you can ask for.
What surprised me most was how calmly everyone handled pressure. We had a huge amount to shoot and, at one point, found ourselves behind schedule. But there was no panic. No tension. No drama. Just people staying focused, solving problems, and getting the work done. With a smile.
So I’m not only bringing home wine and jamón. I’m bringing home a Spanish skill as well: staying calm when the day on set gets hard.” said Mitra.
That first project together confirmed everything Somos5 believed about Mitra from the start. Beyond the results on screen, what stood out was how naturally he integrated with their team, creatively aligned, collaborative under pressure, and always in service of the work. It's the kind of partnership that makes you want to do it again. And we will.
“I’d love to explore more the comedy built around memorable characters and push the visual language even further. A joke lands harder when it exists within a world that feels cinematic, energetic, and full of personality.
Spain feels like the perfect place to bring all those things together. And that’s the next chapter I’m excited to explore with Somos5.” adds Mitra.
