Director and writer Naqqash Khalid has joined the Somesuch roster for worldwide representation.
Renowned for narratives that redefine conventional storytelling, Khalid's acclaimed feature In Camera has been hailed as one of the most original debuts in years.
A fairytale about late capitalism told through a playful satire of performative representation in show business, In Camera (2024) was backed by BBC Films and the BFI. The film won Best First Feature at the Dinard British Film Festival, the FIPRESCI award at Thessaloniki International Film Festival and received further nominations at the BIFAs, London Critics’ Circle Film Awards and London Film Festival.
Since In Camera, Khalid has worked on a number of short films. In collaboration with Riz Ahmed and WePresent, he directed The Name of Action, a short documentary exploring why the 425-year-old play Hamlet holds a mirror up to society today. Most recently, Khalid was awarded Best UK Short Film at the 2026 London Short Film Festival for Flint; a surreal and immersive exploration into changing generational patterns.
He was one of three filmmakers to receive the BFI x CHANEL Filmmaker Award in 2024, named a Screen Star of Tomorrow in 2020 and one of The Guardian’s Great New British Directors to Watch.
Khalid co-wrote the script for Good Boy, a gripping psychological thriller starring Stephen Graham and Andrea Riseborough and is currently working on his next feature.
Before directing, Khalid was an English literature lecturer at Salford University. Flint and In Camera are currently available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
