OFFF Barcelona celebrates 25 years
With a new brand identity, the festival’s program will include conferences, workshops, masterclasses, a design market, exhibition activities, and the new feature ‘OFFF a la ciutat’ with activities open to the public.
The emergence of OFFF Barcelona marked a before and after in 2001.
Never before had a festival been organised that condensed the latest trends in creativity, art, and digital design, and today it continues to grow and pave the way as a major international reference. On May 8, 9, and 10, its 25th edition will take place at its usual location in the Disseny Hub Barcelona, with a program befitting such a special milestone, featuring the best talents showcasing their creative process. An event that always looks to the future within the global creative industry and that in 2025 will once again spread and foster the creative talent of the most restless and brilliant minds.
To commemorate this quarter-century, OFFF Barcelona will bring together 70 speakers from the fields of creativity, design, visual arts, and digital culture from around the world. Three days to listen to the leading voices of the creative industry at the highest level of entertainment and post-digital culture.
From major agencies and creative studios to research studios and experiential collectives, along with creative directors, graphic designers, filmmakers, illustrators, and experts in motion graphics, AI, and VR, OFFF Barcelona will be the meeting point. Names like Anna Ginsburg, Boldtron, DixonBaxi, Ines Alpha, Marina Willer, Marshmallow Laser Feast, Mat Voyce, Niceaunties, Paul Trillo, Territory Studio, among many others, are part of a lineup that you can already check out on the event’s website.
In addition to being a space for inspiration and discovery, OFFF strengthens its commitment to professionalizing its attendees with a prominent Pro area. This edition will feature major figures from the creative sector and digital production tools. The main collaborators, Adobe (headline sponsor), Procreate, Houdini, and Maxon, will offer exclusive content in formats such as live demos, workshops, and educational talks. Additionally, partners like Automattic, Stocksy, Monotype, LABASAD, and Fail Fast will contribute with workshops, further expanding learning and professional development opportunities. Tickets are now available on their website.
OFFF Barcelona 2025, a look at avant-garde visions
The festival presents a carefully crafted program, full of surprises and innovative proposals. With a lineup of internationally renowned speakers in different fields of creativity, AI, design, visual arts, and digital culture with perspectives that go beyond the preconceived.
Notable are the avant-garde visions of DixonBaxi, the creative agency specialising in branding, design, and digital experiences for platforms like Hulu or the television network CW, which will present the video dedicated to this 25th anniversary; and of Territory Studio, with works in blockbuster films like Blade Runner 2049 and Avengers: Endgame, who will present Main Titles, a work that positions them as leaders in motion graphics, visual effects, and digital design. The creative studio Field, known for its cutting-edge work at the intersection of art, technology, and design; the research and design studio Domestic Data Streamers, composed of artists, journalists, programmers, data scientists, and designers who have worked for institutions such as the Tate Modern museum in London, the Hong Kong Design Institute, and the California Academy of Sciences; and the experiential artist collective Marshmallow Laser Feast, will also participate in an edition that once again serves as an ark of knowledge.
There is room for notable names like Claire Blyth, founder and managing partner of Red Setter, who will host the podcast My Life in Design with Marc Català, co-founder of Mucho, to explore the story behind the outstanding studio. Likewise, Emmy-winning creative director and master of TV show openings like Westworld, Filipe Carvalho, will record a live podcast in collaboration with Digital Kitchen.
AI is one of the most promising tools today, and for this reason, this edition will feature artists who utilise it in different fields, such as the Barcelona-based brothers Boldtron, the digital artist specialising in 3D Ines Alpha, the digital creator Niceaunties, and the filmmaker Paul Trillo. These three will participate in a panel with Creative Review, where they will discuss their different approaches to developing a unique style capable of transcending the industry.
Pentagram London partners Samar Maakaroun and Marina Willer, with their bold and vibrant conceptual approaches; the visual imagination of filmmaker Anna Ginsburg and her skill in visual techniques such as stop motion and her distinctive hand-drawn 2D animation, which has been used by musicians like Two Door Cinema Club and Disclosure, add more talent to an edition that also features figures like typographer and designer Mat Voyce and illustrators and animators Brosmind.
‘OFFF a la ciutat’, an organic connection with Barcelona
In 2025, OFFF Barcelona takes an important step towards connecting with the city and its community by presenting ‘OFFF a la ciutat,’ (OFFF for the City) a series of public and free activities designed to engage all citizens of Barcelona. The festival will offer experiences in the Disseny Hub surroundings with new free-access areas. Through this program, OFFF is committed to enriching Barcelona’s cultural life, inviting citizens to participate in activities that celebrate digital art, design, and innovation. These activities will be open to the public without the need for a festival ticket.
La Plaça Design Market
The design market, featuring a selection of local and international designers, will move outdoors to the platform over the lake. It will now be open to the public, allowing access without a ticket.
The Screen new stage
This year, with support from BARCO, OFFF is introducing The Screen, a mapping experience on the Disseny Hub facade. The Screen will debut with an open-call showcase, held in collaboration with Frameboy, featuring works from the OFFF community, giving both emerging and established creatives a chance to display their work on a grand scale.
In addition to the open-call showcase, The Screen will present a curated selection of design pieces from OFFF speakers, handpicked by filmmaker and experiential designer Nathalie Van Sasse Van Ysselt. Each screening will conclude with a public nighttime event, creating an immersive afterparty atmosphere.
NXT Project
Building on the success of the 2024 edition, OFFF presents “NXT”, a platform dedicated to showcasing the next generation of emerging talents from Barcelona’s leading design schools. This year, “NXT” will feature a selection of standout works from students at 12 top educational institutions: BAU, Brother, CTIM - UPC, Elisava, ESDI, FX Barcelona, Harbour Space, IDEP, IED, La Salle, LABASAD, and LCI. Through presentation sessions led by the students themselves, “NXT” offers young creatives a unique opportunity to share their projects with a global audience and take their first steps into the professional design world.
Global OFFF Festival reimagines itself for its 25th anniversary with COLLINS
To mark its 25th anniversary, OFFF unveils a reimagined brand signalling its continued evolution from a pioneering local conference into a globally recognised creative brand. Since its inception in Barcelona in 2001, OFFF has been more than just an event, it has been a dynamic force that brings together diverse minds, sparks new trends, and fosters a place where creativity thrives.
Designed by the San Francisco and New York based firm COLLINS, the new brand reflects OFFF’s role as a nexus in the international creative community. Drawing inspiration from the festival’s magnetic influence, the rebrand represents a dual force: one that attracts and one that expands. OFFF has always been a meeting point where innovation and bold ideas converge. Now, with its refreshed identity, it takes that spirit further, amplifying its reach and deepening its influence. The identity seeks to embody discipline with forward-thinking energy, both mature yet intensely dynamic.
