Production company Park Pictures welcomes playful and insightful Scottish director Bonnie MacRae to their dynamic UK roster of talent.
Fresh from her 2026 Silver Young Director Award at Cannes for Charity Commercial Home Is Where The Hurt Is, a campaign film for charity Refuge that uses the tropes of a luxury house viewing to reveal hidden signs of coercive control and domestic abuse, MacRae will bring her agenda-setting directorial voice to compliment Park Pictures’ expanding offer.
MacRae is known for tackling difficult and important subject matter in playful and surprising ways in order to create impact and draw audience attention. Her 2024 film All Up There, an autobiographical short about endometriosis, medical misogyny, and chronic illness, also won the Silver Young Director Award at Cannes and earned her Best Director at the 2024 BFI Future Film Festival.
MacRae is often drawn to female and working-class stories with a desire to counter inauthentic narratives and uplift overlooked points of view, taking inspiration from the history of British social realism and directors like Andrea Arnold and Lynne Ramsay and adding a new twist with stylised film craft and contemporary cultural reference.
Her 2025 short Happy Birthday Daniel starring Lizzie Davidson (Such Brave Girls) explores the evolution of heartbreak through a talismanic wooden kitchen spoon and her music video Harriet for artist Chloe Slater is an almost identical remake of key scenes from the TV adaptation of Normal People based on the fact Chloe is a dead ringer for Daisy Edgar Jones.
MacRae has worked with commercial clients like Heinz and charities like The Climate Majority Project. “We are incredibly excited to welcome her to the team and look forward to the unique, agenda-setting voice she brings to Park Pictures London,” says Park Pictures London Managing Director Fran Thompson.
