Playlist: Elvis Santos Sierra
This week we hear from Elvis Santos Sierra, Head of PR & Influence at Ogilvy Madrid. Here he recalls recording Nirvana on VHS, Michael Kiwanuka concert's, and drinking a glass of water before leaving the house...
What’s the best music video you’ve seen recently and why?
Depeche Mode - People Are Good. They are one of my favourite bands.
That’s what it’s like being Generation X. All the videos from the latest album, which returns to their roots, are impeccably shot in black and white. With zero gaudiness, quite the opposite of the current audiovisual culture saturated with stimuli.

What other directors/artists do you look to for inspiration?
Many. To get inspired, what I do daily is read the news and subscribe to several magazines.
What are you listening to at the moment?
I recently went to a Michael Kiwanuka’s concert. Since then, not a day goes by that I don’t listen to him for a while. The song, Solid Ground especially.
What’s your favourite bit of tech, whether for professional or personal use?
The most useful and indispensable in my life: the iPhone.
What artist(s) would you most like to work with and why?
Manolo Valdés, painter and sculptor, and Miguel Milá, designer (pictured above).
Both are over 80 years old and surely have a lot to share.
How do you feel the promo industry has changed since you started in it?
More money, worse distributed. Less ego. More avocado and less alcohol. Less advertising knowledge.
Where do you see the music video industry being in five years’ time?
On the successor of TikTok.
Tell us one thing about yourself that most people won’t know…
I have to drink a glass of water before leaving the house.
