If you listed a cast including Robert De Niro, Robert Downey Jr, Dennis Rodman, Brigitte Bardot, Paris Hilton, Debbie Harry and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s bicep, you’d probably expect some multimillion-dollar blockbuster.
Instead, for Rich The Kid’s new track, Calling My Line, HENRY directing collective Bleu Désert have utilised VHS cameras, AI augmentation and a whole heap of recognisable movie clips to splice together something that sits between a Hollywood montage and a video-store clerk’s fever dream.
Unfolding as a phone conversation between the artist and a chameleon-like switchboard operator, played by Parisian model Khleopatre, the film works as both a fast-moving accompaniment to the Blondie-sampling tune and an entertaining pop-culture quiz for eagle-eyed movie fans.
