Rob Cantor's boyhood ballad
The songwriter's charming ode to fatherhood is given a music video that balances silliness and sincerity.

If the name Rob Cantor is familiar to you, it's probably because you've witnessed the musical opus that is “Shia LaBeouf” Live; a deliciously dark retelling of a chance encounter with the movie star that not only gave the internet some glorious lyrics, but also produced a meme that's still memeing.
Despite clearly being the work of someone who shouldn't be allowed near children, Cantor has returned from a self-imposed hiatus with My Boy, a genuinely heartfelt ode to fatherhood, accompanied by an odd yet unexpectedly affecting music video.
Presenting the singer as the dad of a freshly made, fully moustachioed lad, the film candidly captures a series of life-defining moments, each made undeniably hilarious by the delightful miscasting.
Directed by Randall Maxwell, the film plays every absurd image with such complete sincerity that the tears flowing from the viewer could be caused by either laughter or poignancy.
