Royd Ringdahl signs to RSA & Black Dog UK
RSA and Black Dog Films sign the South African director for UK representation, expanding the company’s roster of talent.
RSA and Black Dog Films have signed South African director Royd Ringdahl for UK representation, expanding the company’s roster of fresh international filmmaking talent.
Ringdahl's work is defined by graphic imagery that balances raw intensity with elegance. His films move between realism and surreal abstraction, creating images that feel both visceral and precisely composed. Moving fluidly between commercials and music videos, he has collaborated with global brands and directed projects for artists across multiple continents.
Originally trained as an engineer, Ringdahl approaches filmmaking with both precision and a fascination with form, crafting images where rhythm, movement and light shape the emotional language of the film.
Among his recent work is the Adidas Football film It’s in Our Bones, created around South African club Orlando Pirates. The film celebrates the deep cultural connection between football and identity and has become a defining piece in African football storytelling, featuring across Adidas Football platforms and the global football community.
“I’m interested in building worlds that feel unpredictable and push scale, not just in size, but in ambition. RSA and Black Dog felt like the natural next step” said Ringdahl.
“We’ve long admired Royd’s work. He has an instinctive feel for film with striking visual clarity and a real command of tone. We’re super excited to have him on board and can’t wait to introduce him to the UK” said Josie Juneau, Managing Director, RSA.
