Power tools brand Ryobi and McCann have created this brilliantly silly mockumentary through Shaven Ape, telling the completely true and totally ridiculous story of how its spot cleaner, Swifty, stood as a candidate for mayor in English town Staines-upon-Thames's local election.
Enthusiastically led by director and comedian Ben Fogg, the film goes behind the scenes of Swifty's political campaign, Taking Care of Staines, and leans into the town’s recent low voter turnout to offer a hard-working candidate who shows up, and cleans up, for their community.
Funny, culturally relevant, and impressively committed to the bit, this absurd project makes it clear that sometimes, the most effective brand behaviour isn’t just about taking a side, but taking responsibility.
