Sigourney Weaver observes that, on Earth, no one can see you move
In a pointed 'nature documentary' about humans from ASICS, the Alien star observes our increasingly sedentary, convenience-filled lives as though they were an endangered-habitat problem.

If the shows that fill National Geographic, and the oeuvre of David Attenborough, are to be believed, there's a great deal of wisdom to be gleaned from observing animals in their natural habitat.
Taking this insight and applying it to its customer base (humans), ASICS' latest campaign from Golin Ketchum uses the tropes of the nature documentary to put across an important message - that the comforts and conveniences of modern life are steadily reducing how much we move.
Drawn from a study of 34,000 people across 31 countries, the Human Nature campaign claims we now spend 86% of our waking day not moving, with more than half of respondents failing to meet recommended physical activity guidelines.
With Knucklehead's Rob Leggatt creating some comedic moments, and the silky voice of Sigourney Weaver pointing out all of our species' failings, this neat slice of branded content has some genuine grit behind the gags.

“For more than 75 years, ASICS has been guided by the belief that movement transforms not just the body, but also the mind,” says Gary Raucher, Global Head of Marketing at ASICS. “It’s why we’re called ASICS. Our name comes from the Latin phrase Anima Sana In Corpore Sano - a Sound Mind in a Sound Body.
"Today, as modern life quietly designs movement out of everyday life, we hope to inspire people everywhere to move for just 15 minutes, because even small amounts of movement can make a meaningful difference to both body and mind.”
“We’re born to move, but modern convenience culture is making us increasingly sedentary,” explains Al Wood, Chief Creative Officer at Golin Ketchum. “It’s all become a little ridiculous, so we wanted to bring that to life while exploring the state of human nature today.”
“We’ve built a world that makes movement optional,” adds David Raichlen, Professor of Biology and Anthropology at the University of Southern California. “We can work, shop, socialise and be entertained without ever really moving – and while that’s convenient, our bodies and minds still depend on regular movement to stay healthy.
"The findings are a reminder that movement isn’t an added extra; it’s fundamental to how we feel, think and function. The encouraging thing is that it doesn’t take much to change: small, achievable moments of activity can make a real difference, and the challenge is to simply build them back into the world we live in now.”
