Verso expands leadership team
Verso enters a new chapter with expanded leadership, director roster and new look.
London-based production company Verso has unveiled a bold new chapter in its 15 year journey.
Verso is announcing an expanded leadership team, a growing roster of directors and a new brand identity that reflects the company’s expansion built around exceptional craft, original storytelling and seeing every project from The Other Side of the Story.
Founded by filmmaker duo Jose Otero and Louis Ellison, Verso has spent the past fifteen years creating award-winning films for global brands and organisations. Alongside its commercial work, the company has continued to develop original films through Verso Originals, producing documentaries and short features that illuminate the human experience and celebrate subcultures and oddities around the globe.
As Verso enters its next phase of growth, founders Ellison and Otero are joined by Jake McGowan as Creative Director EP, expanding the company’s leadership and creative offering. Bringing experience from leading creative agencies alongside his own background as a filmmaker, McGowan strengthens Verso’s ability to translate ambitious creative ideas into bold, craft-led productions, while working alongside Louis and Jose to shape the company’s future.
The leadership expansion marks Verso’s evolution, offering commercials, branded content, photography and original film production, supported by an experienced creative team and a carefully curated roster of directors.
Coinciding with this evolution is the launch of a refreshed visual identity built around the line The Other Side of the Story, a creative philosophy that reflects Verso’s belief that the most compelling films come from looking beyond the obvious. More than a rebrand, it represents the company’s continued commitment to bold ideas, the craft of production and emotionally resonant storytelling.
The rebrand also introduces an expanded director roster, bringing together a diverse collective of highly experienced and celebrated filmmakers united by a shared commitment to distinctive visual storytelling. The roster includes Osrev, Louis Ellison, Lucy Luscombe, Joseff Morgan, Jake McGowan, Hopi Allard and Cassidy Burcher, whose work spans commercials, branded content, documentary and original filmmaking. Together, they reflect Verso’s ambition to champion unique creative voices while delivering exceptional work for brands and audiences alike.
The announcement follows a landmark period for the company, with recent productions for META, John Lewis, Land Rover and WADA, alongside continued success for Verso Originals. Recent original film Burning Heart has received multiple awards on the international film festival circuit, demonstrating the company’s belief that developing original work strengthens the creative craft it brings to every commercial production.
Ellison said: “Verso has always been driven by a love of filmmaking and a belief that the best stories are the ones that stay with people. Over the last fifteen years we’ve had the privilege of working with incredible brands while continuing to develop original films that challenge and inspire us creatively. This next chapter is about building on those foundations with an exceptional team of directors and collaborators who all share the same passion for craft.”
Otero added: “We’ve built Verso around long-term creative relationships with our directors, our clients and the people we collaborate with. As we’ve grown, it became clear that the business had evolved beyond what our original identity. This rebrand reflects who we are today, while our expanded roster allows us to continue producing ambitious work across an even broader range of disciplines without compromising on the quality and care that define everything we do.”
McGowan said: “Verso represents to me the unwavering commitment to craft. Having worked both agency-side and as a filmmaker, I understand how important it is to protect a creative vision from the first idea through to the final frame. It’s a total pleasure to work alongside Louis and Jose to help grow the company, support an outstanding roster of directors and continue creating work at the highest level.”
Verso stands as a creative production company built on collaboration, cinematic craft and original thinking. With an expanded leadership team, a growing roster of directors and a renewed visual identity, the company enters its next chapter with a clear ambition: to continue producing unforgettable work for some of the world’s leading brands while giving total strength and freedom filmmaking talent through Verso Originals.
