Breakfast launches new director roster
Some of Breakfast's new roster talent also picks up double silver at the YDAs in Cannes.
Three years after founding Breakfast, the Nordic production company is officially introducing the group of directors it has been quietly building all along.
The timing couldn't have been better.
During Cannes Lions week, Breakfast directors Eino Manner and Jan Sederlöf both picked up Silver Awards at the Young Director Awards, marking a fitting moment to introduce the company's first official roster.
"We never wanted to build a roster for the sake of having a roster," say founders Nita Rehtonen and Henri "Henkka" Hämäläinen. "We wanted to find people we'd genuinely want to make things with."
The result is a deliberately small roster of eight directors from Finland, the UK, Germany and the Czech Republic: Anja Giele, Eino Manner, Ima Iduozee, Jan Sederlöf, Marek Partyš, Nalle Sjöblad, Ricky Allen and Simo Liukka.
Together, they've created work for brands including McDonald's, Google Play, Supercell, Burger King, Ferrero Rocher, Finnair, Sony Music, KONE and Metacore.
For Breakfast, however, the roster has never been about collecting names. "It's about people," say Rehtonen and Hämäläinen. "We genuinely believe that treating people well leads to better films. We want to stay approachable, curious and excited about the work, no matter how much we grow."
That philosophy has shaped the company since day one and continues to guide the way it works with directors, agencies, brands and creative partners across the Nordics and beyond.
