Finding yourself emotionally invested in the plight of a disadvantaged kid is not the most difficult of empathetic leaps, but in his new film for homelessness charity Crisis, Peter Thwaites makes a beeline for the feels.

Following a young lad and his mother as they explore their new Home of Dreams, The Corner Shop director makes use of the bare surroundings and a handful of seemingly abandoned odds and ends, turning the setting into a makeshift football training ground that bolsters our protagonist’s imagination.

With the neat addition of commentary legend Guy Mowbray and a pair of heartwarming performances, this endearing PSA inspires rather than alarms.

“This is a film about home as a feeling," explains Thwaites. "About what it means to belong somewhere, to feel safe, to let your mind wander into the future, brought to life through the eyes and imagination of a child. There are thousands of people in the UK tonight without a home, and I hope that this can help strike a chord.”
