Anonymous Content has expanded its relationship with filmmaker Max Sherman to include commercial representation in the UK and Amsterdam.
The Canadian-born writer and director, who originally joined the production company for US representation in 2016, is known for his offbeat brand of performance-driven comedy and instinct for finding humour in the painfully honest moments of life.
He has brought his unique blend of sharp wit, cinematic craft and instinctive feel for character to campaigns for global brands including Apple, Google, Amazon, Uber, Tide, McDonald’s, and the NFL.
Recent highlights include his global McDonald’s campaign Breakfast Comes First with Wieden + Kennedy, a transformative spot for IBM via Ogilvy, a hitchhiker’s guide to Scania Trucks out of Åkestam Holst, and a family celebration for Panda Express from Opinionated Agency.
“I’ve been a fan of Max’s work for a long time. His work just keeps getting better. It’s smart, brilliantly observed and genuinely funny, with performances that always feel natural,” says Tor Fitzwilliams, Managing Director, Anonymous Content UK. “We’re thrilled to be representing him in the UK.”
Sherman launched his career with Leo Burnett’s short, The Street House, for Raising the Roof, which aimed to shed light on Canada’s homeless community through provoking public installations. The project garnered numerous awards including a Cannes Lion. From there, he found a knack for performance-driven work. His films have been recognised by every major awards competition, including AICP, Cannes, Ciclope, Clios, D&AD, Eurobest, The Webbys, The Advertising Design Club, and more.
His short film But I’d Really Have to Kill You was both chosen as a Best of Vimeo Staff Pick and won the 2016 Cannes Young Directors Award and his short Chloe Cherry Likes Her Men Like Her Tea was also named a Vimeo Staff Pick and went on to be named a Short Film finalist at Ciclope and won a Gold at the Kinsale Shark Awards.
