Evergreen New York eatery Katz's Delicatessen has managed to maintain its fame since its founding in 1888, even cementing its place in cinematic history with the notorious "I'll have what she's having" scene from When Harry Met Sally, all without making an ad. Until now...

Created to publicise the joint's delivery service, m ss ng p eces filmmaker Nicolas Heller (aka New York Nico) has created Katz's Ships Nationwide; a sweet tale of brotherly love and salted meats,

What makes it even more adorable is the reason for its creation - Heller made the film in exchange for being allowed to use the spot as his dream wedding venue, taking on complete creative control by concepting, writing, directing, and even starred in the ad, financing it on his own, and calling in favours from friends and colleagues to shoot in only one day.

The star of the film, Dave Roffe, is best known as @OldJewishMen on Instagram. Roffe, who has a real-life, Florida-based twin brother named Dan, pulled in double duty for the spot; with Rockaway Beach standing in for Orlando, Florida.

In addition to the main film, DP Joe Bressler created a companion doc named I Saved New York Nico’s Wedding By Filming a Commercial At Katz’s, giving further insight into a truly delightful creative endevour.

“There have been very few opportunities where I’ve been given complete creative control, and it’s such a blast,” said Heller. “It’s been amazing to see how well received they’ve all been, and this one is no exception.”
