We all expect a little privacy in our own space, right? DuckDuckGo thinks the same should apply online.

In its latest campaign, I Thought I Was In Incognito Mode the online privacy company humorously reveals how exposed your personal data really is when you search and browse with Google. (Yes, even in Incognito Mode.)

"Suddenly realizing you're in public in your underwear... that's a nightmare, right? We used that playful visual to illustrate the pitfalls of relying on browsers like Chrome for privacy," said Cristina Stanley, Vice President of Marketing, DuckDuckGo. "Our browser, on the other hand, doesn't track your searches or browsing history. We think the best way to protect our users' privacy is to not collect that kind of data in the first place."

Directed by creative duo Jones and produced by Partizan, the campaign follows people "browsing" in everyday settings like a furniture store and a pharmacy aisle, assuming that Incognito Mode is protecting their privacy. They’re not trying to hide what they’re doing; they just deserve to browse without being tracked. But Chrome doesn’t offer that privacy, despite what it claims, and they quickly realise that Google has left them...exposed.

"It’s refreshing to work with a company like DuckDuckGo who values customers' privacy, safety and security in a world that is increasingly online," said Partizan producer Elyciphus Siler. "I wrapped this project not just as a producer, but as a new DuckDuckGo user and advocate.”

"We love ads that find funny, unexpected ways to make an important and serious point, and we hope everyone has as much fun watching these films as we did making them," said the Jones team.
