What’s the most creative advertising idea you’ve seen over the last year?

The NPR’s Who, Why, How campaign, by Mischief. It was so exciting to see something so iconic and familiar used as a statement and reflection of our times. It felt like a simple and sophisticated protest that left a big impression on me.

What website(s) do you use most regularly?

The Guardian. When I want to know what’s really going on, that’s where I go.

What’s the most recent piece of tech that you’ve bought?

I thought it would be the Oura ring. Then I lost it. I already know when I eat and sleep, so whatever. Other than that, my iPhone will always be my favourite piece of tech.

What product could you not live without?

I did a similar article for shots in 2014; my answer then was my hair straighteners, and it still is. Some things don’t change.

What’s the best film you’ve seen over the last year?

Train Dreams. Quiet, devastating, and stays with you.

What’s your favourite podcast?

Pivot. They encompass so much. I didn’t love Scott Galloway at first, but hooking up with Kara Swisher was the smartest thing he ever did. I’m so grateful for the way they explore our current political and socio-economic situation. We need voices in media who aren’t afraid, and they certainly are not.

What have you been most inspired by recently?

The GENER8ION/Yung Lean video for STORM, directed by Roman Gavras. It’s a masterpiece. I don’t remember a short film or music video making me feel so many emotions; anger, fear, amusement and joy - not even just joy - wonderment, all in seven minutes.

Also Future Fair. I live in the gallery district in NYC and try to find emerging artists. I recently purchased two paintings from this 23-year-old woman, Sopho Mamaldaze, from Georgia, the country, not the state.

If you could only listen to one music artist from now on, who would it be?

Bruce Springsteen; another answer that hasn’t changed since 2014. I’ve seen him many, many times, and of all his tours, this year’s is my favorite. I grew up in New Jersey, he’ll always be the soundtrack of my life.

If there was one thing you could change about the advertising industry, what would it be?

Oh, absolutely NOTHING. It’s perfect.

Describe the Cannes Lions Festival in three words?

Cabana. Fries. Rosé.

If you could give one piece of advice about surviving the Cannes week, what would it be?

Cabana. Fries. Rosé.

Who or what has most influenced your career?

My parents. Growing up with poor immigrant parents created the kind of work ethic you need to survive in this industry.

Tell us one thing about yourself that most people wouldn’t know.

I recently became a UK citizen… for reasons.
