TK Mami gets AI generated in Josea

TK Mami’s new single Josea, arrives with a video in which every frame is generated by AI. 

Nothing was shot for the screen. No set, no locations, no crew. Her performance was captured at the Muscle Beach office using an iPhone, and the scenes were built afterwards with AI around it.

One early-2000s Los Angeles fantasy per scene: a Beverly Hills sidewalk, a pool party, a lecture hall, a police chase along the LA river, a motel room, a strip-club car park.

None of the phone footage appears in the final cut. It served as the reference for motion, acting, camera and setting, and every frame on screen was generated from it. The point was to see how far an AI-only video can go without losing the timing and attitude of the artist. The result is loud, funny and a little unhinged.

Once the cut was locked, the video was printed to film and scanned back, so the grain, softness and glow come from actual celluloid rather than a plug-in. Shot on a phone in the office. Finished on film, in a Los Angeles that never existed. AI is the enabling production tool, which allowed for an incredible turnaround time. Direction, performance, editing, sound, and overall authorship stayed in human hands.
