The Sweetshop New Zealand adds Jesse James McElroy
Already a firm favourite on The Sweetshop’s Australian roster, McElroy swapped the cutting room for the directors chair in 2015.
Director Jesse James McElroy joins The Sweetshop New Zealand.
Known for his distinctive visual vocabulary and sharp comedic instinct, McElroy has an uncanny ability to make ideas impossible to ignore, making him a natural fit for the New Zealand market.
Already a firm favourite on The Sweetshop’s Australian roster, McElroy swapped the cutting room for the directors chair in 2015, going on to create standout work for brands such as McDonald’s, Volkswagen, Kellogg’s, Unilever and homegrown favourites like Whittaker’s. His projects have gained recognition in the international award circuits, taking home wins at Cannes Lions, D&AD, Award and the Webby Awards.
Says Ben Dailey, Managing Director / Executive Producer The Sweetshop New Zealand “JJ’s work is all about craft, he is a master at achieving in-camera where others would look to CG, which brings ideas to life in a tangibly satisfying way. He is also an all round good human, we look forward to him weaving his magic in NZ.”
It’s the coupling of imaginative concept development and flawless execution that makes McElroy an exceptional film maker.
On joining the Sweetshop, says McElroy “When I got the call, I was absolutely thrilled to finally be joining the number one textile production company in all of northern Ganshuur Province. Took me a few days to realise it was actually The Sweetshop, the world-class production company… not Sweatshop. Still, I’m here now, and even though I won’t be operating a six-head embroidery machine on 12-hour shifts, I’m very excited to be part of the team.”
McElroy is now available for commercial, branded, and short-form projects across New Zealand through The Sweetshop.
