Marking the 30th anniversary of War Child’s Help album, which raised aid money for victims of war and featured songs by names such as Paul McCartney, Blur, Paul Weller, Radiohead and Oasis, Help(2) was recorded at Abbey Road Studios last year with stars including Arctic Monkeys, Wet Leg, Foals, Depeche Mode, Damon Albarn and Olivia Rodrigo.
This music video for latter’s song The Book of Love, was directed by Billy Boyd Cape and uses footage recorded by kids themselves in conflict zones of Sudan, Gaza, Yemen and Ukraine.
Along with Rodrigo's plaintive vocals, the juxtaposition of the gleeful exclamations of the children as they play against a backdrop of battle ravaged landscapes is heartbreaking.
The film is part of Academy Films’ eight-month ‘For children, by children’ initiative.’ From behind-the-scenes content captured at Abbey Road, to this music video and a documentary which will be out in late spring/early summer – everything was filmed by kids, giving a poignant view on the ravages of conflict.
